Rot came to the Forgotten Place with his expedition team in search for ores and fuel.
In a fateful accident, Rot's hook dislodged from the wall of a steep chasm. His teammates were too far away to save him.
It's a miracle he survived the long fall, but as he landed on a rock, his visor cracked across the middle. The impact left him unconscious for hours.
When he woke up... He didn't know what happened.
He knew his name and he remembered he had a team, but they weren't here. He was in this strange place by himself. At the bottom of this chasm, he searched for an exit as he waited for them to come.
But... they never did.
He was completely alone. His visor cracked, unable to open and leaving him blind on one side. His metal limbs dented and creaking from the fall.
He couldn't remember what happened, but... Was he just thrown down here? He's so broken in this state, is that why they left him?

Rot didn't want to believe it, but as he began to distrust his own memories, he began to believe in those intrusive thoughts. After weeks of wandering the Forgotten Place, he ducked into a cavern and wept.
He cried, and he sobbed, and he wailed until he couldn't remember a single thing. His terrified heart couldn't take this anymore. 
When he emerged once more, he assumed that this place was his home, and began to scavenge for materials.

His cavern is hidden from the typical caving trails, and after months of living there, he calls it his home. It's decorated with the belongings of people he encountered, along with ores and objects he found interesting.

If he runs into any Sapsidians, he will hide from sight. If they approach, or if they're too close to his cave, he will attack them.
He may not remember, but his body does. Anyone is an enemy.
However, it's not impossible for him to befriend others again... It takes time and patience. It takes a lot of convincing him that you are not here to hurt him. But it is possible.

Rot's favorite food is fish! Any fish is good fish. Sushi is a good treat to spoil him with.
Though, any Sapsidians with traits akin to a fish should steer clear of him. Even the fish styled ears can be mistaken for two little fish.

- Runas: 
A commonly spotted Sapsidian in the Forgotten Place. Runas is often looking for rare ores and fossils. The first time he saw Rot, he watched him from afar, curious but not trying to be nosy. It was when Runas camped in the Forgotten Place and went fishing in a nearby stream that Rot approached him.
It was silly. The Sapsidian that liked fish had no idea how to fish with a hook. Runas happily showed Rot how it's done, and once enough fish was collected, he cooked it over a fire and shared it with Rot. That was the first act of kindness Rot had been shown since the accident. Bewildered, Rot accepted the kindness, unable to resist the fish. However, like the challenge of befriending a stray animal, he did not trust Runas just yet and fled after getting the fish. But that's not the last time the two meet.
